Like you, Farm Data is unique

Modern agriculture is inherently data-driven. We build scalable data systems to standardize and streamline your unique data needs.

Challenges We Solve

  • Data Collection: Collecting quality data from producers can be challenging. We can help build effective and user-friendly data collection tools.
  • Quality Review and Data Management: We understand that receiving data is just the first step to effectively using farm data. Any scalable data pipeline needs intuitive features to review and edit collected data.
  • Data Aggregation: Programs utilizing farm data must aggregate data from many sources including intake forms, farm records, and outcome data from labs or in-field assessments.
  • Investigation and Reporting: Once the data is collected and verified, the real work can begin. We can analyze data, build interactive reporting dashboards for peer-to-peer benchmarking and data exploration, and output customized reports for your stakeholders.

How We Can Help

Using needs assessment and user-centered design techniques, we will map out your data pipeline and identify existing open source technologies that can be leveraged to create practical solutions.

  • Develop Data Pipelines Using Open Source Tools
  • Training and Support
  • Data Translation, Transfer, and Storage
  • Reporting and Benchmarking
  • Strong Connections to the Open Ag Tech Community

Past Projects

Our team boasts a strong track record of delivering impactful services and our expertise spans multiple disciplines.

    Bionutrient Institute

The Bionutrient Food Association wanted to understand the links between farm practices, soil health, and nutrient density. From 2018 to 2023 we partnered with them to build and manage a soil and produce testing lab, as well as the necessary software, sample collection, data management, and reporting infrastructure to manage data from thousands of samples. We also developed an interactive data explorer so farm partners could explore how their results compared to the broader community and worked with partners to analyze the dataset and generate reports and peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.

    Pasa Sustainable Agriculture

We are currently supporting collection, translation and quality control of farm practice and soil health data for their Soil Health Benchmarking Study, which includes over 14,000 activities from over 200 farms.

    Multi-tenant FarmOS

We are partnering with six organizations to develop an enterprise version of FarmOS, an open source farm management platform that allows organizations to manage data from hundreds of farms from a single platform. Users can use quick forms to simplify data collection and use customized views to simplify quality review and reporting all while providing the producers access to their submitted data.

Common Farm Convention for Interoperable Farm Data

Collaboration can often be hampered by a lack of interoperable data. We partnered with AxiLab, QLever, Farmier, OpenTEAM, and the USDA to develop guidelines for collection and storage of interoperable farm practice and soil health data, including the Modus standard for labelling soil health data from labs.
